While Cher and Noël are both Reiki Masters, they are drawn to different aspects of healing.  Noël continues with the traditional Usui Reiki and Cher prefers to use sound healing with Reiki.  By combining services and working tandem, they are able to provide clients a combination of Reiki and Sound Healing. The variety of sounds, such as crystal singing bowls, drumming, rattles, and toning uplift and balance each individual while Reiki fills you with unconditional love, creating a relaxation and stress reducing experience.

On September 26, Cher and Noël rolled out their Reiki and Sound Healing service to the public.  They participated in Miss Mary’s Metaphysical Faire at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Raleigh on Wade Ave.   They offered a sample Reiki and Sound Healing session for $20.00 and used drumming and rattles, a fairy ball vocal toning, and then in combination with Reiki, used the crystal bowls at the chakras.  Each client was extremely relaxed and enjoyed their experience of combining the two.  Many of the vendors in the room were also enchanted and joyful over the crystal bowls playing throughout the event.

Other vendors at the event included Azure Windwalker doing her soul portraits, intuitives, and sales reps for healthy chocolate, magnetic therapy, health screening, crystals and incense.  Several other healing modalities were also present such as chiropractic massage and intuitive healing.

If you are interested in scheduling a Reiki and Sound Healing session with Cher and Noël please contact them directly.  If you would like to attend the next Metaphysical Faire, mark your calendars for October 31st from 10-6.  Hope to see you at the Faire.

"Holistic Health and Healing in the Triangle"

by Cher Durham, co-op owner

September 12, 2009

We are a co-operative group of holistic health and healing practitioners who are offering alternative choices, services, and modalities to our community as a whole, so that individuals may personally take control of their health, their healing and their lives.

Where we've been?

Vision gives birth to form...

One year ago this month, Peace Tree Village was not even a Village yet, but was rather a stirring of the soul and a glimpse in the mind of owner, Cher Durham.  With a little bit of rain-barrel money, and a lot of help from close friend Marin Holmes; an enormous amount of blood, sweat, and tears was invested and several months later the Peace Tree vision came to life on St. Mary's Street with just three practitioners; Hypno-babies CBE, Jamie Jackson, Massage therapist/Doula Kate Katahdin, and Reiki practitioner/Doula Julie McBurney as the only co-op members to join and share the hope and dream of a successful place for education and healing to take root and grow.

On the night of the Winter Solstice, Dec. 21st, 2008 a larger group of practitioners and members of the community gathered together to season and burn a Yule log in hopes of manifesting prosperity and abundance in an uncertain New Year of business and unpredictable change.

As Spring began to blossom and Summer unfolded upon us the winds of change blew through the Village and created a wave of momentum and growth that is still carrying forward in this present time. Peace Tree Village is now comprised of more than 20 different practitioners that utilize space to offer their unique services and healing modalities to a community that has begun to reach out and respond to the holistic health and healing opportunities our group has come to offer and specialize in.

Where we're going?

Our future looks bright...

We now have a plethora of practitioners who specialize in everything from pregnancy health, education, and support, to healing and alleviating pain from sports injuries, chronic and acute illnesses, emotional and spiritual suffering as well as general ailments of all shapes, sizes, types and forms. You name it, and one of our skilled providers can offer help and/or referral to address and alleviate it.

We have a Homeopath, an Acupuncturist, multiple massage therapists offering prenatal, postpartum, fertility, hot-stone, deep-tissue and cranio-sacral massage, a Healing Touch practitioner, four Reiki Masters, a certified Aromatherapist, Raindrop, Vita-flex and Essential Oil classes, a Sound Healing practitioner, Chakra Balancing and Clearing, powerful and transformative meditations, a Medium and Spiritual Life Coach, a green-living specialist and Shaklee representative, a Baby Sign Language instructor, postpartum and birth doulas, childbirth educators, breastfeeding classes, midwifery referrals, and many more things too numerous to list individually.

So, as the Autumn Equinox fast approaches, change is once again in the air and the Village is charged with excitement and hope for the future. Many new practitioners have joined our co-operative and a feeling of family and a sense of community as been instilled in the individuals that have come together as a unified group to offer alternative and healthy choices for others to live, learn, grow and heal by.

We give thanks and gratitude for our many blessings, continued success, imminent opportunities for growth and change and for the abundant harvest time that those of us at Peace Tree Village have been so honored to enjoy and experience this season by coming together to help and heal ourselves and our fellow community members. Thanks to everyone for supporting holistic, healthy, and sustainable living and for helping Peace Tree Village and it's beloved practitioners survive and prosper in an exciting, empowering, and ever-changing time of year.

Thank you everyone who participated in the Bayer CropScience Health Fair in Research Triangle Park on Thursday, September 10, 2009.   A special thank you to Emily Bosak is also in order for getting us this invitation.  Their theme this year was “Grow Together toward a Healthy Lifestyle.”  Bayer CropScience has approximately 400 – 500 employees.  They indicated we were invited because of our strong presence in the birth and holistic communities.

I was glad to be the Peace Tree Village Coordinator for this event.  Before we left we were already talking about next year at Bayer CropScience Health Fair.  We had a good showing.  There was lots of enthusiasm from Bayer CropScience employees and co-op members alike.

When I went to lunch a woman saw my name tag and indicated that she was interested in becoming a pregnancy massage therapist like me and she pointed at one of her co-workers and proudly said, "I was her coach when she had her baby."  I told her about doulas and the process of becoming a doula and she kept her promise to come back to our booth after lunch.

At the end of the event after almost everyone had gone, one woman came up to me and said that she'd just found out from one of her co-workers that we had something to help with clearing.  I quickly called one of our energy workers and said, "It sounds like we have a sound healing emergency."  The person indicated they'd had a hard week etc. The healing sound of the crystal bowls could soon be heard and felt.

Our eight tables were filled to capacity.  The following providers participated:  Emily Bosak / Baby Signs with Emily;  April Bosworth / Yoga for Kids;  Tamara Cox / Karuna Acupuncture ;  Cher Durham / Peace Tree Village / Mystical Womb; Joanne Estes / Shaklee; Donna Hedgepeth/ Keystone Chiropractic;  Kate Katahdin / Birth Transforms;  Hart Matthews / Dynamis Homeopathic Healing;  Noel Stevens  / Relax and Reiki;   &  Marcia Thuermer / Triangle Mothercare, Inc., Postpartum Doula Services.  We were also joined by Erin Henry of NC Friends of Midwives.

Thank you everyone for helping to make this event a success.
