Peace Tree Village was originally founded in October of 2008 by a local birth doula who recognized a real need in her community for a resource center and referral network that could not only connect pregnant women with midwives, doulas, and childbirth educators, but could also provide information about holistc health care alternatives for pregnancy, birth and postpartum issues and ailments. This original vision also included thoughts of offering a safe and supportive environment for care providers and women alike interested in this kind of work to educate themselves and others about natural birth options, women's health care issues, and the legalities surrounding homebirth in our state. A compassionate and comprehensive understanding about the difficulties facing mothers and children today began to permeate the environment in a very profound way.

As more practitioners began to join the Peace Tree Village co-operative all members of the community were able to explore new and exciting complementary health and energetic healing modalities that allowed for an improved sense of health and well-being to spring forth in a big way. An acute awareness of how mental, emotional, and spiritual health and fitness affect an individual's physical health began to come into focus as the overlapping services offered to clients allowed the "whole person" to be treated and not just the symptoms that were originally plaguing them. More and more clients began taking responsibility for their own health on every level and outstanding outcomes were realized in a short amount of time.

Another unique aspect of the Village practitioners is that we barter services between each other and address our own personal health care issues in the same way a new client visiting us would do. We will use several different modalities to alleviate and heal anything causing dis-ease and discomfort to our physical, mental, emotional and/or spiritual health. In this way, Peace Tree Village has grown into a comprehensive collective that nurtures and supports both the professionals providing their services through the cooperative and the community members seeking us out for health care alternatives thus enabling peaceful paths to health and healing to unfold. Members of our cooperative are certified in their chosen fields, highly-skilled in their professions, and are licensed by the State of North Carolina in their modalities or therapies.
